$26,000 fine shows ABCC must be kept
The decision from the Federal Magistrate’s Court today to penalise the CFMEU $26,000 after a union boss ignored right of entry provisions shows the Australian Building and Construction Commission must be kept.
“Labor must scrap their plans to abolish the Australian Building and Construction Commission. Only the ABCC can keep the ruthless lawlessness and thuggery pushed by the union bosses to a stop,” Senator Abetz said today.
“The ABCC was established out of a Royal Commission and has delivered huge results including a $5.5 billion economic welfare gain as well as increased productivity and less working days lost to industrial action.”
“The union bosses shouldn’t be above the law and without the ABCC, we will take a leap back to the bad old days.”
“Minister Shorten must stand up to Ms Gillard who is pushing this purely to guarantee donations from the union bosses to fill Labor’s election coffers,” Senator Abetz concluded.
