No Julia, you haven’t “got it done”

In the 2010 Election, Julia Gillard declared that her proudest achievement was the harmonising of Australia's Occupational Health and Safety laws. Indeed she said "it wasn't easy but I got it done".

Last night the South Australian Parliament has delayed further debate until February next year – well after the scheduled start date. Western Australia and Victoria have asked for a 1 year delay. NSW does not have harmonised legislation.

Labor’s Year of Deceit and Disgrace (Decision and Delivery)

“This year Labor ‘decided’ to grossly and deliberately betray the Australian people and has ‘delivered’ the worst Government in Australian political history,” Senator Abetz said today.

Senator Evans’ Hypocrisy

“A total of 17 Bills have now been rammed through the Parliament this week without a single minute of scrutiny - a single word of debate,” Senator Abetz said this evening.

The Senate has both a right and a responsibility to debate and review legislation – this legislation and all other legislation that comes before the Parliament. That is what Australians expect from this chamber.

Labor rewriting history again

This evening when debating Labor’s bill to abolish the Australian Building and Construction Commission, Labor decided to attempt to rewrite history.

Labor Senators reject Gillard’s India Uranium Policy

This afternoon all Labor Senators voted against a motion supporting the Prime Minister’s position on the sale of Uranium to India.

“Labor Senators had the opportunity to support Australia’s economy, security and the environment and their own Prime Minister but they chose to vote it down.”
