Another Dispute shows Year to Come

Just 3 days into the new year, today's lock out by DP World shows what's in store for 2012 unless Labor gets serious with elements of the trade union leadership according to Shadow Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Senator Eric Abetz.

“Here we have another example of union bosses trying to run an enterprise under the guise of 'job security',” Senator Abetz said today

“The demand by union bosses to limit the use of contractors and casual workers is in fact denying those contractors the opportunity of employment. The dislike of contractors by union bosses is indicative of their dislike of small business and non-unionised labour.”

“Minister Shorten must prove beyond doubt that his ambition to become Workplace Relations Minister is not being used by him to act out his unfulfilled ambition to become ACTU Secretary.”

“His duty is to the national interest not the sectional ACTU interest,” Senator Abetz concluded.
