Brown’s Vanity Exposed
“Today’s ridiculous motion from Senator Brown about a perceived ‘missed photo opportunity’ at the end of the Carbon Tax vote yesterday has simply exposed his vanity and petulance,” Senator Eric Abetz said today.
“On the day the Senate finally passed the Carbon Tax package, what preoccupied Senator Brown so much that he wanted a full-blown debate about it today?”
“The fact that he couldn’t bask uninterrupted in front of the cameras following the vote in the chamber.”
“After wasting the best part of an hour, it emerged that it was Senator Brown himself who was involved in a breach of Senate procedural orders by being photographed when he didn’t have the call.”
“The only thing Senator Brown achieved, apart from making a goose of himself, was to hold up the business of the Senate and curtail the already time sensitive debate on the Renewable Energy and Tobacco Bills.”
“Debate in the Senate has been guillotined by the Labor-Green Alliance to deal with these matters, but Senator Bob Brown used up this precious time on his self-absorbed narcissistic motion.”
“Not surprisingly the Senate treated Senator Brown’s motion with the contempt it deserved. With the Greens so humiliated, they decided not to divide.” Senator Abetz said.
