Budget writes off over 75,000 unemployed Australians
Labor’s all spin and no substance budget has delivered a slap in the face to more than 75000 unemployed Australians.
Wayne Swan’s breathless announcement in last night’s no frills budget stating that unemployment rates will fall under Labor by 2012 to ‘so called’ full employment of 4.75% falls way short of the mark.
The Howard Government had unemployment down below 4.0%.
Wayne Swan and Labor have simply given up on more than 75,000 unemployed Australians who, because of Labor’s mismanagement, now face the grim reality of being condemned to the dole queue as Labor’s ‘forgotten Australians’ by the Rudd Labor Government.
“Kevin Rudd and Employment Minister Julia Gillard must justify why they have simply given up on the job prospects of over 75,000 unemployed Australians” said Senator Eric Abetz, Shadow Minister for Employment & Workplace Relations.
“The jewel in the crown of the Coalition Government was a record period of consistently low levels of unemployment.
“Coalition Governments know that the best thing they can deliver for Australians is a job and we never gave up on helping the unemployed find work.
“An elected Coalition Government will never give up on helping the unemployed and would certainly never be so brazen as to just simply abandon more than 75,000 Australians in a diatribe of spin and debt.”
