Common Sense Prevails on Qantas Dispute
Despite the Australian Licensed Engineers Association calling for a consumer boycott of Qantas and threatening to ‘slow-bake’ them, I am glad that commonsense has prevailed to see the Union bosses agree to a deal.
The Union has wisely dropped some demands including the building of a new hangar to be built in Australia.
“After all the hoopla, I’m glad that common sense has finally prevailed to see a deal struck that will be beneficial to individual workers and also their employer,” Senator Abetz said today.
“I have said all along that management decisions – like the building of new hangars – should be left to management because at the end of the day, the more successful the enterprise, the better job security individual employees have.”
“This is clearly what Tony Sheldon understands after having taken the axe to several staff at the Union’s headquarters. As the union boss he is well within his right to make those kinds of management decisions and I hope he extends the same courtesy to other employers,” Senator Abetz concluded.
