Julia Gillard - "the rules are the rules", so why are you changing them?
Julia Gillard can’t have it both ways. On the one hand she wants to do away with the Australian Building and Construction Commission, replacing it with an authority with watered down powers and on the other, she warns militant unionists to abide by the laws saying “the rules are the rules”.
Well they are Ms Gillard, or at least until you tried to change them, a move that the Senate is thankfully blocking.
Labor’s plan to abolish the tough cop on the beat (The ABCC) yet talking tough, is nothing short of complete hypocrisy by the Deputy Prime Minister.
The only thing that Ms Gillard’s comments highlight is that Labor’s industrial laws won’t work.
Ms Gillard has been caught out by her own spin cycle, attempting to convince everyone that Labor is serious about stamping out militant union behaviour and then trying to weaken the laws.
If Ms Gillard was serious about cracking down on militant unionists then she should be supporting the ABCC, not attempting to water down it’s powers leaving the door open for unions to run riot and unchecked by an effective independent watchdog.
