Liberal Senate Team Delivers for Kingborough
Today’s official opening of the State Gymnastic Centre at Kingston shows what can be delivered by a strong Senate Team, Senator Eric Abetz said, on behalf of the Tasmanian Liberal Senate Team.
“The Federal funding component of the project - $1 million – was promised by the Liberals when in Government, as part of our 2004 “Tasmania Package”, Senator Abetz said.
“Funding was delivered in the 2005-06 Federal budget delivered by Peter Costello, spread over three years.
“Funding was secured for this project in 2004 by the Liberal Senate Team, despite us not having a House of Representatives member in Franklin.
“It shows what a strong and committed Senate Team can deliver for all parts of Tasmania.
“I trust that Federal Labor will not try to falsely claim the project as their own.
“However, given their failure to deliver anything of substance for the electorate, I expect they will try, particularly given that this facility is perfect for Kevin Rudd to practice executing his back flips!
“The new facility will be a fantastic addition to the Kingborough and the broader Tasmanian community, and I pay particular credit to Gary Pitchford and the Kingborough Sports Centre Gymnastics Club for their role in driving this project to fruition.”
