Qantas Strike – Opportunistic
“Today’s proposed strike by Qantas engineers targeting thousands of travellers at the end of school holidays is opportunistic and designed to cause the maximum inconvenience possible to the travelling public,” Senator Abetz said today.
“Qantas is under siege from the unions with more disruption planned by the Transport Workers Union this week.”
“Today’s industrial action is clearly part of a concerted campaign by the unions singularly targeting Qantas.”
“The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association needs to explain why it is planning to take industrial action today, of all days.”
“Clearly the unions are wishing to inflict as much pain possible on the travelling public.”
“Workplace Relations Minister Senator Chris Evans recently identified industrial disputation data as the benchmark as to how to measure the Fair Work Act.”
“Since then we have seen endless strikes and evidence of union heavyweights back to their old tricks engaging in coercion, thuggery and intimidation.”
“This campaign of rolling stoppages targeting Qantas passengers is yet another reason why Labor needs to bring forward its review into the Fair Work Act,” Senator Abetz said.
