Schweppes, POAG: Bittersweet

It is concerning that there has been an escalation of the Schweppes dispute following other union bosses forcing members out of work and into the picket line according to Shadow Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Senator Eric Abetz.

“This kind of blanket action by the union bosses is unhelpful and unnecessary and just escalates the matter,” Senator Abetz said today.

“It is clear that the union bosses has been emboldened by Labor and these kinds of tactics not only do harm to the employer but also to the workers who they purport to represent.”

“Whilst I welcome Mr Shorten heeding my advice to intervene on the POAG dispute, Mr Shorten should use his moral authority to step in and resolve this matter urgently,” Senator Abetz said today.
