Union Bosses Rip-Off Workers for Dishonest Political Campaign

“The ACTU and Labor have shown their true colours and disregard for individual union members by callously imposing a compulsory levy on members to fund its dishonest election campaign,” Senator Eric Abetz said today.

The ACTU will impose a $1-per-head-member levy on its members to fund its election campaign.

“Workers who belong to Unions will now be forced to pay for their Union bosses’ dishonest politicking no matter what their political views might be or which political party they might support.”

“The fact that the ACTU does not understand the concept of a voluntary contribution such as we in the Coalition rely on, indicates a mindset of arrogant intolerance of any given Unionist’s political view which may not fully converge with the Union bosses’ view,” Senator Abetz said.

“The fact that the Union bosses want to run a campaign despite the assurances that WorkChoices is dead, shows this is all about building political careers and massing brownie points at the expense of individual workers finances and choice.”

“It is becoming more and more apparent that the Union bosses are simply using their members as a cash cow to be milked in an attempt to further their own political careers.”

“This dishonest rip off of workers by Union bosses will not impress anyone especially given that it’s paying for a fundamentally dishonest campaign which completely ignores the cost of living pressures faced by Australian workers.”
