ACTU should disavow CFMEU, not back them

Despite more than $7 million in court penalties being imposed against the CFMEU, the Australian Council of Trade Unions have once again backed in the dodgy union:

MAIDEN:

Why doesn’t the ACTU step in to clean up the CFMEU on some way?

SALLY MCMANUS:

See, I just don’t accept that. I don’t accept that there is a fundamental problem with the CFMEU…

“Despite all the law-breaking and just a day after a CFMEU protester threatened to rape a child, the ACTU is continuing to run a protection racket for the CFMEU,” Senator Abetz said.

“The fact that courts have imposed millions of dollars in fines, and in doing so often saying the penalties aren’t enough, shows that there is a ‘fundamental problem’ with this law-breaking union.”

“The continued disregard for the rule of law and common community standards by the CFMEU should be abhorred by the ACTU as giving all union members a bad name but instead they continue to run a protection racket.”

“If the ACTU is ever to be taken seriously, they must condemn this law-breaking union in the strongest terms,” Senator Abetz concluded.
