Better Bridges to be Rebuilt in Hobart
Better and safer bridges are on the way for Hobart thanks to a $935,000 investment from the Liberal Federal Government as part of the Bridge Renewal Program.
Local Liberal Senator Eric Abetz said making sure these ageing bridges such as at Old Farm Road in South Hobart, and the Lenah Valley Road Bridge are renewed is just another part of our plan to invest in the city’s road safety and help get people home sooner and safer,”.
“Replacing old timber bridges with better concrete bridges ensures that important road links are safer, more reliable and more efficient.
“I am pleased that these two bridges have received funding under this round and I look forward to seeing this investment make a positive difference for those travelling these roads.”
“The Bridges Renewal Program provides up to 50 per cent of the cost of repairing or replacing old and unsafe local bridges, which is a fantastic win for local communities.” Senator Abetz said.
“Under Round 4, the Government has committed $57 million to help fund vital local bridgeworks following the completion of an open, merit-based selection process.”
“Through good economic management, the Government has been able to ensure these bridges are upgraded,” Senator Abetz concluded.
