Education resolution welcome
The announcement today of a resolution to the long-running education policy impasse has been strongly welcomed by Tasmanian Liberal Senator Eric Abetz.
Senator Abetz has been a strong advocate, for more than a year, of ensuring that the issues affecting non-government schools both in Tasmania and around Australia caused under the Gonski 2.0 model be addressed by the Government.
“This positive announcement shows that once again the Liberal National Government is absolutely and unashamedly backing parental choice in education while focusing on outcomes and ensuring affordability – a winning trifecta that will benefit not only parents and students in Tasmania but right around Australia,” Senator Abetz said.
“For more than a year, I have said that we needed to ensure our schools policy spoke to the aspirations of parents and today’s welcome recalibration does just that.”
“The speed at which the new Prime Minister and Education Minister have worked to resolve this long-running issue, both working with the sector and the backbench has been very welcome.”
“I am looking forward to speaking with Tasmanian education stakeholders to convey this positive announcement in coming days,” Senator Abetz concluded.
