Expulsion of Russian Diplomats
Liberal Senator Eric Abetz has welcomed reports that the Australian Government will expel Russian diplomats following the attempted murder on British soil earlier this month.
Senator Abetz, a member of the Senate’s Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee, has long been critical of Russia’s increasing boldness.
“The Russian attempted murder in the United Kingdom is just the latest in a long-line of suspected and proven Russian provocations against the western world. It is absolutely right for Australia to join with the US and UK in sending a strong and powerful signal that this continued behaviour will not be tolerated,” Senator Abetz said.
“This deeply troubling pattern of behaviour from Russia requires action and I am glad it is being taken.”
“It is particularly pleasing to see that nations such as Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States are working in unison for the betterment of the western world,” Senator Abetz concluded.
