Fahour misleading evidence is of grave concern
Liberal Senator Eric Abetz has expressed serious concerns over a filing in the Federal Court by former Australia Post boss Ahmed Fahour that appears to directly contradict evidence that was provided at Senate Estimates.
In Feburary, Senator Abetz asked Mr Fahour about claims relating to a workers compensation scheme called Project Dove. Mr Fahour claimed to know little of it – something that has been contradicted by him in documents filed in the Federal Court. Indeed, it appears that Mr Fahour ousted an Australia Post staff member who was not agreeable to the union’s demand simply to appease the union.
“This apparent conflict between evidence provided to the Senate and Mr Fahour’s response in the Federal Court is extremely serious,” Senator Abetz said.
“Further, Mr Fahour’s statement to the Federal Court raises serious questions about the governance and operation of Australia Post – something which should be examined,” Senator Abetz concluded.
