Labor Desperation – Labor Lies
“Tasmanians won’t fall for Labor’s latest act of desperation with their campaign of pedalling lies over GST funding,” Senator Abetz said today.
“Having suffered from State Labor lies that they would do “no deal with the Greens” before the 2009 State election and the Federal Labor lies over “No Carbon Tax” before the 2010 Federal Election,, Tasmanians will rightly view this double act of Senator Wong and Premier Giddings with some cynicism.”
“In their rush and desperation Minister Wong and Premier Giddings couldn’t even get their lines – or should that be lies – straight, one falsely claiming a $600 million shortfall and the other $700 million. By the end of the day will it be $800 million?
“The simple fact is that the Coalition has promised NOT to make any major changes to the GST distribution,” Senator Abetz said.
“Labor initiated the GST Review two years ago whilst the Prime Minister was placed under great pressure in Western Australia. Two years on and we still don’t have Labor’s response to their own Review.”
“Who’s got the secret agenda?”
“In announcing the Review the Prime Minister said State’s face “penalties for economic growth and rewards for economic underperformance”. Labor needs to explain to which States they were referring.”
“Clearly Tasmania, after years of Green/Labor maladministration would not be in the “growth” category. Indeed Tasmania is in recession.” So did the Prime Minister have Tasmania in her sights? Why did she make the announcement in Western Australia?”
“The Government might also tell us when they will respond to the Review.”
“Australians are wanting policy out of this Government instead they are getting deceptive politicking,” Senator Abetz said.
