Plibersek must come clean on Keay

Acting Labor Leader Tanya Plibersek must use her visit to Tasmania today to announce that Justine Keay will resign given the clear evidence that she continued to be a UK citizen long after her election to the Parliament.

It is now clear that Mr Shorten, Ms White and Ms Keay engaged in a grand deception for months on end to hide the true status of Ms Keay’s citizenship from the people of Tasmania.

“The continued obfuscation over Ms Keay’s grand deception must come to an end and it’s time for both Federal and Tasmanian Labor to show some leadership and force Ms Keay to do the honourable thing,” Senator Abetz said today.

“In Tasmania, Stephen Parry and Jacqui Lambie did the honourable and decent thing and resigned when it was clear that there was an issue. By contrast, Ms Keay – despite the facts being very clear – has refused to do the honourable thing.”

“Instead of pushing confected and false information about the GST, Ms Plibersek must today deal with this saga that has dragged on for months.”
