Republic is only the beginning
Opposition Leader Bill Shorten’s commitment to try and make drastic changes to the Australian Constitution is just a peek into the ultra-left wing agenda the Australian people would be subjected to under Labor.
According to Labor Party policy, if a Labor Government wins the next election, Prime Minister Shorten will:
- seek to change our system of Government into a republic;
- amend our national anthem;
- change Australia Day; and
- change our flag.
“Australia is the best country on earth yet Bill Shorten and his Labor Party want to change everything about it,” Senator Abetz said.
“Our system of government, our flag, our national anthem and even Australia Day are on the chopping block under Labor in favour of a political correctness crusade of which extreme Green Senator Lee Rhiannon would be proud.”
“If Bill Shorten thinks he can overthrow our national symbols, he has got another thing coming as the Australian people will not stomach these divisive distractions designed to shift focus from the issues that matter, such as Mr Shorten's threat to govern like a unionist.”
“Interestingly, Mr Shorten's support for a non-binding plebiscite exposes his breath-taking hypocrisy in opposing giving the Australian people a say on the issue of marriage,” Senator Abetz concluded.
