Senator Chris Back
I am sad to learn that my colleague, Senator Chris Back, will shortly retire from the Senate.
Senator Back has been an indefatigable advocate for rural and regional Australia and led the charge against Labor’s ill-considered live cattle export ban.
I have always found Chris to be one of the most thoroughly decent and hardworking members of the Senate team, respected by all sides of the chamber, who will be sorely missed.
I want to place on record my deep appreciation to Chris, and his wife Linda, who have given dedicated service both to the Parliament and to our nation over an extended period and I wish them all the best for the future.
