Shorten running scared over disunity and division

The deferral of Labor’s State Conference until after the Braddon by-election shows that Labor is running scared from scrutiny, Senator Eric Abetz said today.

“Just recently, Labor shut down debate at their Victorian State Conference in order to avoid scrutiny, and now they are doing it again in Tasmania,” Senator Abetz said.

“This is becoming a disturbing pattern.”

“Labor is tacked with division and disunity on things like border protection policy and deals with the Greens, and Mr Shorten is desperate to sweep it all under the carpet until after the by-elections.”

“The Greens used to try and avoid scrutiny by closing their conferences to the media.”

“Now Labor are once again proving what the Greens are doing they can do better, by avoiding having any the conference at all,” Senator Abetz said.
