White must come clean on Keay deception

Tasmanian Labor Leader Rebecca White must come clean on her knowledge and involvement in Justine Keay’s several month deception of the people of Tasmania.

Ms Keay has withheld vital documentation about when her renunciation was processed by the UK Home Office for months in a deliberate attempt to deceive Tasmanians.

“It is now clear that Ms Keay was not acting alone in her decision to withhold information and deceive Tasmanians about her eligibility to sit in the Parliament. Tasmanian Labor Leader, Rebecca White must disclose when she, her office or her ‘trusted’ officials became aware of this saga and what discussions were held,” Senator Abetz said.

“The very fact that Ms Keay has refused to disclose the date or documentation for months in itself shows that Ms Keay knew she was in the wrong. Simply put, if she had nothing to hide, she wouldn’t have gone to such extremes.”

“In circumstances where Stephen Parry resigned less than 24 hours after receiving advice that he was a dual UK citizen, Ms Keay’s continued protestations are both dishonest and disappointing.”

“If Justine Keay and Rebecca White would deceive Tasmanians on this issue, what else are they hiding,” Senator Abetz concluded.
